For more than 20 years, the Council on American-Islamic Relations has been fighting for the civil rights of American Muslims.  Our Cleveland chapter is one of the busiest and most dynamic of CAIR’s thirty nationwide affiliates – defending, representing, and educating our community.  We work to ensure the equal protection of the law for Muslims in Ohio.  By working to uphold the constitution, we reinforce the American principles of justice and freedom for all Americans. Part of our mission is to build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. To that end, much of our work involves community education and outreach. We work to establish and maintain solid relationships with the community – via schools, places of worship, youth organizations, and other community-based organizations, as well as interfaith and coalition partners that share common values. We work to mobilize the Muslim community through advocacy training, community workshops, voter registration drives and educational campaigns. We monitor legislation and government activities and work with public officials to find common ground on public policy issues. Policymakers turn to CAIR-Cleveland when they need insight on issues affecting the Muslim community. Read more
