(CLEVELAND, OH 6/9/2015) – On Tuesday, June 9th, the Cleveland chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Cleveland) will join other civil rights leaders, activists, and clergy at a press conference in front of the Cuyahoga County Justice Center to announce that they are filing a number of citizens’ affidavits for probable cause in the death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by Cleveland Police Officers on November 22, 2014.

These affidavits, to be filed in Cleveland Municipal Court, will call upon a municipal court judge to issue arrest warrants for Cleveland Division of Police Officers Frank Garmback and Timothy Loehmann in connection with the death of Tamir Rice.

The affidavits will be filed in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 2935.09 and 2935.10.

“We are still waiting for the criminal justice system to enact justice in the name of Tamir Rice. It has been more than six months since his tragic death and, yet, the people still have no answers and no one has been held accountable. Today, citizens are taking matters into their own hands utilizing the tools of democracy as an instrument of justice,” said Rev. Dr. Jawanza Colvin, pastor of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church.
