Rally Protesting Genocide of Rohingya in Burma
The Muslim community along with our partners are organizing a rally to protest the Burma military’s genocidal attacks on the Rohingya people.
The Rohingya are an indigenous people of Burma living in their ancestral lands. Their citizenship was revoked in 1982 by a military regime. The UN considers the Rohingya to be the world’s most persecuted people. The current attacks have forced 290,000 Rohingya to flee to Bangladesh according to the UN. The UN also says that it is not allowed to serve food, water, and medicine to about 400,000 other Rohingya people who have fled to the mountains and forests within Burma to avoid persecution. The Burma military attacks have worsened, as they have recently laid mines on the Bangladesh-Burma border preventing the Rohingya from reaching safe haven in Bangladesh.
